Well I again want to share about one of the many people that I have met over the last few weeks. 3wks ago I went to give an estimate to this old 77yr old woman. She is a widow and we ended up talking for about 6 hours.
She was an art teacher and so we talked fashion, art, life, marriage, and a whole lot more. I could not believe all the things we talked about. One of the moments that really stuck out was in the middle of talking about my recent engagement she stopped and said, "can I pray for you?" Sure, so she busts out in tongues, and then starts prophesy'n over me. I was taken aback, not because of all of it but because she's about as old as my grandmother and i just don't expect that(tongues) from this generation.
She has since given me some photographic supplies and the inspiration to keep my hand to the plow.

Then last week I had another great experience with another lady. Ironically both are widows. 77 and now 60.
I couldn't believe this woman could be 60. I think it had to be the short hair and the spicy personality. Well once again we finished talking business and started talking life. I brought up my recent engagement and some how it tied in with her sister who had left the fam for ten years.
Well her big question was how could Eimi or I forgive those how had done us so wrong.
Well I busted out some scritpture after I found out that she was Catholic. I went the direction that she believed in the same things that I do and from what I understand about forgiveness we have to forgive because we've been.
We talked about it for a while and then I asked if I could pray for her. When I left we both had a tear in our eye, I think she had a few. And most important the prayer that I had to minister to the down and out here could happen.
She didn't know when she would be able to forgive her sister but she knew the ball was in her court and it was time to play.

Life is good and I love it when I am used by God!!!

Since I am in the strange place of Louisiana. I could actually dub it world of the wierd. I have see more strange accidents and just accidents in general than I think I ever have in any one place before. Especially for such a small period of time. Now i may be able to chalk that up for the fact that I am traveling around town so much.
I wish I had bought a digital camera early on to give examples of each of these events.
i will not be sharing all but some of the more memorable and in some ways tragic. Every time I would see some of these I would get sick knowing that some poor soul could have been hurt or at the very least out a lot of money.
So the first was something I had never seen before. Late in the afternoon, a truck buried about 75ft into the woods. If I could have taken a picture of this you would have been amazed. The guy took the wheels off the back end of the truck. Another similar was the box truck that did the same. I guess these folks fall asleep at the wheel go 4wheel'n and end up with a tree in their eye.
Now keep in mind I have had my own fair share of this.
Back in Dec of 03 I had to go pick up some friends that had all gotten in wreaks themselves. They were in Nashvegas finishing up a school for youth ministry. It was broad day light and I am wide awake. Next thing I know I am in the median ditch heading up the other side for about 6-18 wheelers. I came out alright but after that experience I always try to recreate the incident in my head.

I am probably one of the luckiest people on the planet. I cannot convey how blessed I am to have the opportunity to do the work that I am doing.
This morning I had the privilege of meeting with an old Cajun lady that was born and raised on the Bayou her whole life.
She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met and I could have spent the day talking with her. My heart breaks because just before Katrina she had surgery for breast cancer. Since Katrina she had blue tarps put on her house to keep the water out but they did little good to the rain that still managed to get into her closet and ruin a number of things. One of these was a suitcase she had two flags in. One flag covered her father when he died and the other her husband. They were salvaged but barely. We sat and talked for over an hour and she shared story after story of life on the Bayou.
One of the stories that caught my attention was that of the things we pass on from one generation to the next. In her family the mother would always teach her daughter how to crochet. She was watching the news and they were talking about how this is a dying art. Her daughters had no interest in learning the thing that was virtually a rite of passage as a woman in the family.
I guess what caught me about this is the fact that we are losing our heritage and values in our day and age because we simply have stopped caring about the things that once concerned and entertained our ancestors.

I guess the question that I have for myself as well as to anyone who may happen upon this train of thought is…what are we doing to preserve our heritage?

So I happened upon a friends blog and it just set me off...well it fueled the fire that was already there.

(Grant if you catch wind of this, I had to post it.  )
There seem to be a million voices out there casting all this negative crap into the air waves as if the flood waters didn't have enough sewage in them.  I needed to do some much needed counter attack.  Maybe I'll rock the boat a little?  Anyways this is coming from a person that has a hard time getting their thoughts together when it comes to political stuff.  I really want to learn more in order to put a reasonable voice out there that can be respected and heard.  I hope that school does that!  So here goes.....
You sir are voicing a very inaccurate opinion and it is very disconcerting to hear in a time like this. Some have called you an idiot, the truth is that you are raising a banner that creates more disunity than we already have. What right do you have to do that? In a time where we truly need all hands on deck, where are you? The Rev. Sharpton? Kanye West and a whole slew of others INCLUDING the beloved mayor himself of N.O. He's screaming and yelling about all the government should be doing when it should have been his top priority coming into "power." His position to blame rather than take care of such a tragedy is disgusting as a leader. It is our responsibility as a nation and expectation from our government to respond to something like this and it has time and again. Yet this expectancy or demand and the form that it takes is wrong. When something goes wrong we have two choices, accept responsibility and deal with what we have or have not done. OR we can pass the buck and start shooting our loud mouth(s) off and point fingers at everyone else except ourselves. It is time to shut-up, shape up and put our hand to the "plow" and get to work. I don't know what you intend to do but I being the "white" man that I am, am heading down to LA myself to lend a hand. I have changed my school schedule around and am giving up my current work to go down and will stay down there as long as need be. Oh and by the way you may be asking about all the those dying and that can't get out of the city. What about them? Why didn't the mayor make jobs a higher priority so they could drive themselves out? AND for those who have cars why did they not leave? Why did the mayor not make it manditory to get on a bus and have shelters and cities that would open their civic centers ready in the event that something like this could possibly happen. No my dear man...this ALL HINGES ON LEADERSHIP. The mayor did not plan ahead and neither did those that went before him. This should have been a priority since Chamile. Do yourself a service and the rest of the country positive...not negative. Hope rather than dispair. Love rather than hate. Get back to your roots,"My hand shakes with anger as I write. I, the formerly un-jaundiced human rights advocate, have finally come to see my country for what it really is. A monstrous fraud." I heard something the other day, my grandparents after the war which would be your generation were 65% Christian, my parents Boomers 35%, and the generation after them 15% and mine 4% do you know why cause heritage dies if you don't pass it on. What are you passing on with your current tone and voice. I have come to appreciate with great pride the men that fought for the country that we have today. And yes do see the many short comings they had but also see that they saw a day that would come where we would need the inaliable rights that we have and now...you sir are privileged to say what you want, worship where you want, and yes be the free man that you are. All this because of heritage. Are you being diligent with what you have been given?

Good greatness! I have been so lucky to have the friends and family that I have.  I have been so supported as I venture out into a whole new hemisphere of life...school as a 28 year old!

I have made the decision to go back to school and get my degree in International Business and then off to new york to go to fashion/design school.

In the meantime I will be working for Banana Republic and/or possibly a small designer named Billy Reid formerly known as William Reid he changed the name after leaving some high-end retailers to venture out on his own with some partners.  I have had the opportunity to actually sit down now with one of the partners and am hoping to meet with another tomorrow.  We will see where this goes, YEAH!  School starts Monday if I get into some classes, I am weighing the pull on my time as well as the possiblilities to work a second/third job.

I will also be running a catering business for Talenti, Josh the owner asked me to do this when he found out I was back in town and available to help.  I look forward to this not only for the financial blessing but for the fun I have with the people when I am doing it.

Cherio!
